UMFK Blake Library Gallery exhibits photos collected by Allagash native Darrell McBreairty

FORT KENT -The University of Maine at Fort Kent's Blake Library Gallery will feature an exhibit of photographs by UMFK alumnus Darrell McBreairty, entitled "Allagash Summers: The Philip Calvin Hughey Sr. Photographs."

most of the photos in the 1930s and 1940s in Allagash.  The Blake library will display the collection of photographs through Thursday, September 30.

The exhibition contains a series of photos of hand-tinted lantern slide and black and white images of river drivers, farming operations and community members.  The exhibit will coincide with the publication of Allagash Summers: The Philip Calvin Hughey Sr. Photographs by McBreairty.

Photographer and Maine author, Darrell McBreairty, who wrote Alcatraz Eel: The John Statig Files, also has published a collection of poetry called Lamentations in Two Parts.

McBreairty's collections can be viewed in the Blake Library Gallery Mondays through Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Fridays from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
