Raccoon and runaway toilet keep Fort Kent PD busy
Fort Kent Police Chief Kenneth Michaud said, "The employees went to the Dumpster and the raccoon was hissing at them."
The employees called the police department and Michaud went to investigate.
Sure enough, the animal was still there. Michaud said the raccoon wouldn't leave, so he forced it into a cage and took it to the police station. He said they will try to determine of the animal is rabid.
In a call on Thursday night, a frantic teenager claimed she needed help and, according to Michaud, she said to the dispatcher, "Quick. Come over here. Send the police right away."
Officers rushed to the Brookside Apartments to deal with the crisis, only to discover the young woman was not in danger.
The crisis?
Her toilet was overflowing.
The police showed her how to shut off her water and suggested she call a plumber next time.
