Now is the time to learn art, knitting, floral design

FORT KENT - During Winter/Spring semester, 2011, the Maine School Administrative District 27 Adult and Community Education program will offer a range of fun, engaging personal interest classes.

On Tuesdays, beginning January 18, Gert Thibodeau of Fort Kent will conduct an art and painting program for ten weeks from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at Community High School in Fort Kent. Participants in this program will learn drawing, sketching, and painting techniques that tap into their creative interests and talents.

Also beginning Tuesday, January 18, Hilda Pinette of Eagle Lake will lead a ten-week program in knitting/crochet at the Fort Kent Senior Center from 1-4 p.m. each day. Participants in this hands-on program will learn about chart and pattern reading, basic stitches, cables, colors, and more.

Finally, on Thursday, January 27, from 6 -7:30 p.m., Rob Johnson and Susan Conant will host a one-evening program, Do It Yourself Floral Design, at Pelletier Florist in Fort Kent.

In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn floral care and handling techniques, the elements and principles of floral design, and basic flower arranging while creating a beautiful floral arrangement to take home.
