ISLAND FALLS - On Saturday, August 14, Paul Libby of St. Francis came in first place for his age group (60-69) at The County Open half-marathon.

This was the second year that Island Falls hosted the event, a race to raise funds for the Health Services Foundation.

WHERE'S WALDO - When he is not running in marathons around Northern New England, Waldo is Paul Libby who lives in St. Francis.

Libby (who likes to register as Waldo Libby after his dad ) dressed up in his usual “Where’s Waldo?” attire and came in first place.

He said, “I beat last years’ record by four minutes with a time this year of 1 hr and 48 minutes”. Libby has been in the Músterds running group out of Presque Isle, and has been running for 50 years.

He recently told to his wife, Rose, “I think I will get back into running again.”

Libby plans to run the 5k Labor Day Race in Caribou and the 5k race in September at the Common Ground Fair held yearly in Unity, Maine.

His son Nick might join him at the Labor Day race as well.
