Letter: Immortality is a choice
Hi Andrew, Enjoying this issue as usual. Thanks for this great venue.
I would like take this opportunity however to remark on your comment about health and immortality in the last Macho Chef column. It's our choice. Of course the following is my philosophy but also one of a growing number of practitioners and people who are seeing the light that has been shining for thousands of years. True, western medicine has advertised a bit of a shadow over it for almost 100 yrs, but it is actually brighter than ever. It is brighter for those who are searching and who ask questions like "what about the speed of dark"?
First, may I suggest that it should really not be our view concerning our fate or immortality but our willingness and responsibility to live life to its fullest, healthiest, and happiest as possible? This, at least in most of the industrialized world, actually means not doing as most folks do.
As a matter of fact, if most folks are doing it, at least presently, don't.
It is really about not being a follower, and using what is available to you, especially what your innate intelligence is showing you, and move on that.
There are many facets to this as I am sure you are aware, but the fundamentals are pretty simple. (1) Be willing to learn something about yourself. (2) And listen to your body and soul when it tells you or shows you something. (3) Ask someone for assistance, hopefully from a wholistic perspective, if you have questions whose answers do not become self-evident after reflection. (4) Be kind to yourself and others in all things...food, health care, entertainment, rest and other enjoyment...and above all give thanks. We could go on here I suppose and again I am sure you are connected to all this, sooooo, if this rings a bell write about it or, yes, ask me, and I'll be happy too.
On the specific health care side of things, I would have more to add, but my point here is to say that our mortality/destiny is our opportunity. For all intense purposes it'll never end...it'll only get better. If what a person is doing seems to be causing pain, aggravation, or ill health, then stop. We can enjoy the journey...there's that choice thing again.
Be well,
