Fort Kent Lady Warriors crush Madawaska 4-0
FORT KENT - On Tuesday night, with temperatures in the upper 80s and so many bugs in the air that they dimmed the field lights, Fort Kent Community High School Girls Varsity Soccer Team pressed the Madawaska Owls through both periods to score four points to Madawaska's zero.

Lead by Roxie Pelletier, a junior at CHS, the Warriors scored two goals in the first period. Pelletier smacked both the goals passed the Owl's keeper within five minutes.
During the half time, Coach Robbie Nadeau told his team, "The third goal is the most important."
And Roxie Pelletier came through twice more, managing a hat trick with an assist from number 22, Emily Bard. About 20 minutes into the second period, Pelletier shot another into the goal, making the score four-to-zip.
The traditional competition between Madawaska and Fort Kent has gone on longer than anyone can remember. In other soccer matches this year, the team has held their own with ties and hard-fought wins.

CHS Principal Tim Doak said, "It's always a good rival. I think our girls needed this offensive break."
Doak added, "Even though Roxie made all the goals, I think the whole team had to play well to get there."
Coach Robbie Nadeau said, "I thought it was a great game. Both teams played hard and we came out with the win."
Nadeau singled out Pelletier, saying, "The hardest working player was Roxanne and it paid dividends - four goals."

Pelletier said she was in the "right place at the right time," but she placed much of the credit with her coach. She said Nadeau had been pressing the girls to kick the ball into the net.
She said, "I wanted to put it in my coach's face."
Before the varsity girls played, the junior varsity girls beat Madawaska 6-1. In the second period, Christine Martin scored goal number four and Tiffany Dionne kicked in the fifth and sixth points.
