Firefighters host BBQ in Eagle Lake

5 August 2010

EAGLE LAKE - The fourteen volunteer firefighters of Eagle Lake were donating their time on Sunday for their annual chicken barbecue.

Fire Chief Sean Madore said the volunteers use the annual event as a major fundraiser to collect money to purchase jackets and equipment.

This year's event is especially important because the department is trying to raise $38,000 to purchase a "Jaws of Life". For the third year in a row, Madore's mother, Janice Madore, made the special barbecue sauce the firefighters use to spice up the chicken.

Chief Madore said, "The firefighters love it."

Madore said the department had more calls this year than last year.
