EAGLE LAKE - "I do everything," says Diane Pelletier as she finishes making pie at Bald Eagle Outfitters.

GOODNESS COMES IN A GOLDEN CRUST - Diane Pelletier checks the pies in the oven at Bald Eagle Outfitters in Eagle Lake. Manager Tom Roy added her to the staff about four months ago. 'He hired me to bake, and that’s what they like.' - Birden photo

Inside the oven at the back of the convenience store in Eagle Lake, is the source of the heavenly smells that float through the store.

If it is Thursday, then folks will find Pelletier making crusts and fillings for 12-15 pies.

Along with pie, the baker makes whoopi pies, cookies, and turnovers, along with different lunch specials.

She said, "I try to bake every day.  I love cooking.  Both my parents cooked and still do."

Her favorite pie is the classic apple.  She chooses Granny Smith and Macintosh apples for the filling.

"It always sells."
