On Saturday, August 21, Club Treasurer Martin DeVoe was manning one of the six grills sizzling outside the community center on the shore of Eagle Lake. He said, "We have a lot of fun. This is the most active club in Eagle Lake in three years."
He describes how a "bunch of old fogies" started leading the club a few years ago. The retirees rasied the clubs membership to 120 members. DeVoe said, "For a small town, that's well."
Mike "The Legend" Michaud was working another grill, trying to keep up with orders as happy customers devoured 161 pounds of steak.
Along with the Michaud, Trail Master Fred Michaud also kept the steaks, burgers and hotdogs coming.
Inside the center, people were seated at every table enjoying the food. On one end of the room, several tables formed an L shape on which organizers had piled an endless supply of side dishes, drinks, and homemade desserts.
DeVoe said the club plans to build a clubhouse using the money they are raising from the annual feast.
