According to David Desjardins, President/CEO of Acadia FCU, "This has been the third time in the past five years that the credit union has been able to offer such rebates. As a member-owned cooperative, we believe we have a responsibility to our members to not only provide value throughout the year but also to share the credit union's success with the people who played such an important role in that success - our members. The credit union returned nearly $350,000 to its members in the form of a 7-percent bonus on dividends earned and a 7-percent interest refund on loan interest paid in 2010." Acadia paid the rebate effective with the year end statement dated December 31. Since 2005, Acadia FCU has returned in excess of $860,000 to its members.

Desjardins said, "Our members are the ones who own the credit union and therefore should benefit from their ownership in the business. When members take advantage of our loan and deposit products, we all prosper."
