FORT KENT- On May 14, author Betsy Connor Bowen visited students at CHS.

Before her arrival, students read her book 'Spring Bear' during English classes.

Gathered in the CHS library, students asked Bowen various questions about the book. One student asked “What inspires you to write?”

FORT KENT- With the weather warmer than expected, the Fort Kent boys hosted their first home game of the 2012 baseball season on May 7.

The co-ed Van Buren baseball team was the Warriors’ competitors. Van Buren was off to a great start with a score of 5 to 2 Fort Kent at the end of the first inning.

EAGLE LAKE- One event this month that is sure to bring in some spectators is the Mudbog in Eagle Lake on May 26.

This is the second year the Eagle Lake Fire Department sponsors the event that will take place on the Convent Road in Eagle Lake.

Event Coordinator Rene St. Onge explained what spectators might see at the event.

FORT KENT- Students and Staff at CHS have banded together to put on one more of many fundraisers focused on supporting the Fort Kent fire victims.

Students paid $5 to wear hats and shades, both of which are usually banned from the school. Teachers also participated by paying $5 to wear blue jeans. Organizers also accepted donations.

FORT KENT- Seven students from Fort Kent Community High School embarked on a learning experience Tuesday when they traveled to Augusta to the Maine State Crime lab to see what it is like to work in the field of forensic science.

FORT KENT- Participants practiced throughout the week for the much anticipated Mr. CHS in order to impress the judges, but in the end it was Brandon Hartt that took the title of CHS. Runner up and Mr. Congeniality winner was Thomas Morin.

The event took place on Sunday, March 25.

SINCLAIR- Snow flurries and chilly winds greeted participants of the first ever ‘Polar Dip’ for Special Olympics who were going for a swim to raise a total of $4230 for the cause.

FORT KENT - On Friday, March 2 at 4:30 p.m., Larry Nadeau, 41, was driving down Market Street in front of Jim's Hats and Signs when a woman ran out into the road with two pit-bulls in pursuit.

According to Fort Kent Police Officer Dalen Boucher, the woman was University of Maine at Fort Kent student Kimberley Reardon, and she had been walking her small dog. It was cold, so she picked the dog up, and that was when two large pit bulls ran up to her and began attacking Reardon and her pet.

FORT KENT - After a week of events, the CHS Winter Carnival has ended with the senior class taking first place.

Throughout the week theme days were held, usually relating to the overall theme. This year's theme was "Country."

FORT KENT - Basketball season is nearing a close for the Lady Warriors as they faced the Washburn Beavers in their last home game.

The JV team won their close match-up with a final score of 31-30.

Before the varsity girls took the court, Coach Larry Murphy said that it would be "a very emotion game since the seniors are leaving."

FORT KENT - On Thursday, Feb. 2, the Caribou Viking boys traveled to Fort Kent to take on the Warriors in one of the last games of the season.

The Fort Kent boys wore their game face as they walked out of the locker room ready to take on the Vikings. They ended the night victorious.

FORT KENT - On Monday, Feb. 1, the Limestone Eagles traveled on the icy roads to take on the Fort Kent Warrior girls.

As the end of the basketball season approached, the Warriors felt the increased pressure to win, but the JV girls started the evening with a loss to Limestone, 40-46.

FORT KENT/MADAWASKA - On Wednesday, Jan. 25 the Fort Kent Warriors faced the Madawaska Owls in a packed auditorium due to the long time 'town rivalry.'

The JV boys were first to take the court with Fort Kent beating Madawaska 41-37.

The varsity teams played next.
