FORT KENT - Jenn Colpitts had game-highs of 22 points and five steals as the University of Maine at Fort Kent women's basketball team avenged a Jan. 8 loss to SUNY Canton by beating the Roos 75-51 Saturday afternoon in a USCAA match-up at home in Fort Kent on Jan. 21.

NEWPORT NEWS, VA/Fort Kent - The University of Maine at Fort Kent women's basketball team, winners of four straight games, jumped all the way into twenty-first place in this weeks' USCAA Coaches Poll released by the national office in Newport News, Virginia.

The UMFK men's basketball team, winners of nine of their last ten games, remained in eighth place in the Men's Basketball D1 poll.

FORT KENT - The UMFK men's basketball team, winners of eight of their last nine games, are in a tie for eighth place in the Week 6 USCAA Men's Basketball D1 Coaches Poll.

The top eight teams following regular season play will get an invitation to the USCAA National Tournament in Uniontown, PA. March 6-10. The UMFK women, who have won three straight games, are not in the top 20 but should climb up next week with their recent success.

FORT KENT - The UMFK men's and women's basketball teams will host SUNY Canton this Saturday Jan. 21 in a double-header.

The women will play first at 1 p.m., followed by the men's game at 3 p.m. The Lady Bengals (3-11) have won two straight games while the men's team (12-6) enters Saturday's game having won four straight and eight of their last nine.

BARRINGTON, RHODE ISLAND/Fort Kent - The University of Maine at Fort Kent Bengals men's basketball team earned a hard fought 55-54 win over USCAA Virginia University Lynchburg Dragons Sunday, Dec. 18 in a neutral-site game played at St. Andrew's School in Barrington, Rhode Island.

The Bengals (8-5) picked up their third straight win and second in two days in Rhode Island.

PRESQUE ISLE - The University of Maine Presque women's basketball team used a decisive 9-4 run in the final three minutes of the game to erase a three point University of Maine at Fort Kent lead in defeating their Aroostook County rivals 65-61 Saturday afternoon in Presque Isle.

On Saturday, UMPI (3-6) took a 33-26 advantage at halftime and were up by ten, 44-34, midway through the second before UMFK began to fight back.

NORTHFIELD. VERMONT/Fort Kent - Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) defeated the University of Maine Fort Kent women's basketball team 83-56 in the consolation game of the Hockenberry Classic hosted by Norwich University on Saturday afternoon.

MCLA quickly opened up a 10-point lead at halftime and quickly extended out to a 54-35 lead with just under 17 minutes to play in the second.

Taylor Boucher's 14 points led UMFK (1-5), while Jennifer Colpitts and Megan Land had 12 and 11 respectively. Colpitts was named to the All-Tournament team.

WATERVILLE/Fort Kent - Jeremy Thomas had a game-high 25 points on 8-for-12 shooting as the University of Maine at Fort Kent took a 67-60 win over Fisher College in the Colby College Men's Basketball Invitational on Saturday.

Thomas also shot 6-for-6 from the foul line. The Bengals were 15-for-18 from the foul line and Fisher had just a 4-for-7 effort.

LEWISTON - The University of Maine at Fort Kent men's basketball team shot a frigid 27 percent from the floor and turned the ball over 23 times as they lost to Wentworth Institute of Technology 61-43 in their second game at the Bates College Classic Saturday afternoon in Lewiston, Maine.

FARMINGTON - The University of Maine Fort Kent women's basketball team picked up their first win of the year 49-48 over host University of Maine Farmington at the Dunkin' Donuts Tip-Off Classic in Farmington, Maine.

The win was also the first career victory for first year UMFK Head Coach Bradley Holabird.

ASHEVILLE, N.C./St. John Valley - Follow the UMFK soccer teams live today, November 3, and throughout the tournament at the below link as they play at the 2011 USCAA Soccer National Championships. The Lady Bengals play first at 12 p.m. when they face host school and number eight seeded Warner-Wilson College.

At 2 p.m., the top ranked UMFK men will also face Warner-Wilson College.

FORT KENT - The University of Maine at Fort Kent has named Bradley Holabird, a Caribou, Maine native, as the next women's basketball coach at the far northern university. In an announcement that UMFK Athletic Director, Bill Ashby made. Holabird takes over for Lucas Levesque who the administration chose as the new UMFK assistant director of admissions this fall.

FORT KENT - The University of Maine at Fort Kent men's basketball team will open their regular season this weekend with games on Saturday and Sunday October 22 and 23.

On Saturday, UMFK will host Mount Allison University (Sackville, New Brunswick) at 7pm in the UMFK Sports Center. On Sunday, the Bengals will face St. Thomas University (Fredericton, New Brunswick) at 1pm.

FARMINGTON/Machias/Fort Kent - Donike Ferriera  of Montego Bay, Jamaica collected a hat trick as the UMFK women's soccer team rolled past the University of Maine at Farmington 5-1 in a non-conference women's soccer match at Farmington on Saturday.

Whitney Sinclair of Dexter added two goals and assisted on Ferriera's opening goal, and Jenn Colpitts of Scarborough also had an assist in the win.

FORT KENT  - The University of Maine Fort Kent men's and women's soccer teams will close out their home game schedule this week with three double headers at Alumni Memorial Field in Fort Kent.

On Tuesday, UMFK will host in-state USCAA opponent U-Maine Machias in a mid-week matchup. The women face UMM at 1:30 p.m. followed by the men at 3:30 p.m.
