FORT KENT – On Feb. 21, slippery conditions on the St. John Road near the golf course resulted in an accident that caused $18,000 worth of damage to a vehicle, although the driver walked away with no injuries, said Fort Kent Police Chief Kenneth Michaud.

At approximately 5 a.m., Wilfred “Billy” Marquis, 71, of St. John, was driving his 2008 Ford pickup on the St. John Road toward Fort Kent when he lost control of his vehicle in slippery conditions.

Marquis struck a tree and damaged the front end of the pickup extensively.

“The pickup was a total loss,” said Michaud.
