Deidre Michaud receives undergraduate honor to present research at prestigious conference
MADAWASKA - Deidre Michaud, a Madawaska native and current Bowdoin College senior, was selected to present her scientific research at The Society for Neuroscience 2012 Conference.
Neuroscience 2012, a premier venue for neuroscientists from around the world to debut cutting edge research on the brain and nervous system, was held October 13 through 17 in New Orleans, LA.
It is an extreme honor to be selected as an undergraduate student to present research at this venue as participants are on most occasions PhD and Post Doctorate students.
Michaud’s research topic was titled “Rapid Effects of Estradiol on Retinal Sensitivity in Male Goldfish.” Michaud, however, is no stranger to presenting research, as she also had the opportunity to be selected as a summer student ( 2011 ) at Jackson Laboratories in Bar Harbor, Maine where she presented her research titled “The Validation of Novel Humanized Mouse Models for Biomedical Research” to colleagues and students at the lab. Along with this great honor, Michaud was named a Sarah and James Bowdoin Scholar at Bowdoin College which places her in the top 5th of her class.
Michaud is the daughter of Norm and Sue Michaud of Madawaska.
