FORT KENT - On Monday night the Fort Kent Town Council had a tie vote on a request from the Planning Board for a public hearing on the definition of a word in the zoning ordinance.

Members of the council questioned whether the change in the definition of the term "agriculture" was related to the cultivation and distribution of medical marijuana.

FORT KENT - During Winter/Spring semester, 2011, the Maine School Administrative District 27 Adult and Community Education program will offer a range of fun, engaging personal interest classes.

On Tuesdays, beginning January 18, Gert Thibodeau of Fort Kent will conduct an art and painting program for ten weeks from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at Community High School in Fort Kent.

ST. JOHN VALLEY - The St. John Valley Adult and Community Education Collaborative (MSAD #27, the Madawaska School Department, and MSAD #33) will offer a 60-hour Adult Vocational Education training program in Computer Maintenance and Repair during Winter/Spring semester, 2010.

The St. John Valley Technology Center in Frenchville will host the program.

ST. JOHN VALLEY - The St. John Valley Adult and Community Education Collaborative (MSAD #27, Madawaska, MSAD #33) will be offering two Welding training program at the St. John Valley Technology Center during Winter/Spring semester 2011.

The center will hold one session on Wednesday evenings from 6-9 p.m., beginning January 12, 2010. Danny Robinson is the instructor of the course.

FORT KENT - The Greater Fort Kent Area Chamber of Commerce board of directors announced the 63rd annual Chamber Dinner will occur on Friday, January 21, 2011. Brenda Harvey who is currently the Maine State Commissioner of Health and Human Services is this year's guest speaker. Harvey is a graduate of the University of Maine and obtained her master's at the University of Southern Maine. She also graduated leadership Maine and was a member of the Maine Management Institute faculty.

FORT KENT - Leo Trudel of Fort Kent said Monday that there is a board of Maine citizens assisting him in his efforts to launch a medical marijuana distribution center.  The board includes current Maine State Representative, MSAD 27 school board member and former Maine State Senator John Martin.  It will also include University of Maine at Fort Kent nursing instructor Diana White and Jean English, a doctor with a PhD in soil science who teaches at Unity College.

Trudel said in an interview on Monday, "I want to see it help the citizens of Maine."
